Weber Carburetor for CJ, YJ and Cherokee
If you have issues with a Jeep Carburetor (http://www.jeep4x4center.com/jeep-cj7/weber/carburetor.htm), here is a answer I left in another forum...
I rebuilt my first Carter, on a 1984 CJ7 258, in 1998. I did all the tricks to bypass the stepper motor and smog stuff. Shortly afterwards, because it never worked right, I purchased my first Weber (K551-38). I will NEVER re-build a Carter again. The 300 CFM Weber (Model K551) actually increases gas mileage and power! The 400 CFM Weber (Model K551-38) gives a seat of the pants increase in power I just couldn't believe. Kits are readily available for the 4.2 liter at about $380 and $480 respectively. The kits include EVERTHING you need to make the change. You won't regret it. As a side note, the '84 actually passed emissions better with the Weber than with all the smog stuff working "properly". I'll post a link in the "Vendors" section to our Weber page...
Though the link is to the CJ7 page, the same kits work on all Jeeps with the specified engines...

Mopar Injection
I'm having my 89/258 gone through adding headers/cam and the MOPAR injection. The PVC valve that came with the injection is too large for the opening on the valve cover. I'm hoping to find someone who has over come this problem who can give us a remedy. It appears the 4.0 valve cover will not fit on the 258. Thanks for any help or ideas where I can find a solution.

jeep mopar crap!!! PLZ HELP ASAP
got 96 4.0 cherokee. so it was runnin like crap. would almost die then u give it WOT and it would pick up clean out and move with a backfire. k no biggy really. well then it startd doin it and i go WOT and then a LOUD backfire and it shut off. wont start. got fuel to the rail. turns sounds like there aint not fuel hell maybe no spark. i hate this Jeep. well i like it alot just hate all this sensor and mopar crap. its always somethin plz help asap. couldnt go to wrk. dont wanna sell it but it may happen help me plz plz plz thnx

1992 Transmisson and transfercase
Hello,
I have a good 5 speed transmission and transfercase and was wondering what both of these items would be worth if I were to sell them. At this point they are still in the Jeep I use as spare parts (at least the parts that are interchangeable).

95 Grand Cherokee....stalling
I've been doing research on the boards, and everything points to either the CPS, PCM, or wiring. But I still have a few questions.
Specs:
1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo
4.0L I-6
4x2
Auto
Problem: Random stalling. As if the key was turned to the OFF position. If I leave it and come back in a few hours, it starts right back up. What I've notice is, when it stalls, if I try to crank it up I get a 'no spark' condition. Almost as if the PCM is disabling spark.
What I've done:
Remove, clean, reconnect all CPS/CamPS/O2 connectors.
Remove, clean, reconnect PCM connector.
After I did that, it ran fine for 2 days. Then started stalling again.
I'm about to go buy a CPS for it and replace that, but before I did, I ran the Check Engine light trick. I'm getting a Code 11 'No distributor reference signal was detected; check connection between distributor and PCM'.
Could the CamPS be overheating and shorting out? Could it still be the CPS overheating and shorting out? Fuel pump?

disc brake convert
i have 4 wheel drum brakes and i am wanting to just bolt on a newer dana 30 with disc brakes. is it pretty much that easy.
has anybody done this that can help with some heads up things to look for or look out for

i think its the black box on the left finder but not sure,
95 cherokee wont start and ive been through everything and cant get this thing running.
things ive checked: fire from the coil 2 the cap/ from cap 2 plug (screwdriver test) had spark.
new cap, wires, plugs
cps is good
checked power 2 injectors
feul rail is under pressure but havent tested psi i know it needs 2 b 40psi but i dont have a feul pressure tester

Hello
Hello I'm Joe, I'm an R.V. mechanic and this is my 6th Jeep and have been workiing on it about 4 1/2 years. It has a 6 inch suspension lift and LT245/75R16 BFG Mud Terrains. A powertrax rear locker and 4 Mopar skid-plates. And a bunch of other goodies. :mrgreen:

Oil pan
Are there any spacer or washers on any oil pan bolts i got some and cant find where they go . I changed the oil pan today and the rain was on the way i had to hurry up and i found them later . Maybe off the starter or the brackets holding the rad lines any help would be great thanks .

87 Cherokee wont start help..
i bought a 87 jeep cherokee pioneer and it wont start
i ve tried many many things to fix it nothing has worked
new alternator, starter, battery, bat cables, starter relay, spark plugs, ignition coil, newer fuel pump and fuel filter...
any suggestions?
i think it might be the fuel pump because when i replaced the fuel pump the new one made a humming noise when i turned the key it no longer does
i also know that 1 of my fuel injectors are bad maybe more

Oil pan

1992 Transmisson and transfercase
Hello,
I have a good 5 speed transmission and transfercase and was wondering what both of these items would be worth if I were to sell them. At this point they are still in the Jeep I use as spare parts (at least the parts that are interchangeable).

95 Grand Cherokee....stalling
I've been doing research on the boards, and everything points to either the CPS, PCM, or wiring. But I still have a few questions.
Specs:
1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo
4.0L I-6
4x2
Auto
Problem: Random stalling. As if the key was turned to the OFF position. If I leave it and come back in a few hours, it starts right back up. What I've notice is, when it stalls, if I try to crank it up I get a 'no spark' condition. Almost as if the PCM is disabling spark.
What I've done:
Remove, clean, reconnect all CPS/CamPS/O2 connectors.
Remove, clean, reconnect PCM connector.
After I did that, it ran fine for 2 days. Then started stalling again.
I'm about to go buy a CPS for it and replace that, but before I did, I ran the Check Engine light trick. I'm getting a Code 11 'No distributor reference signal was detected; check connection between distributor and PCM'.
Could the CamPS be overheating and shorting out? Could it still be the CPS overheating and shorting out? Fuel pump?

disc brake convert
i have 4 wheel drum brakes and i am wanting to just bolt on a newer dana 30 with disc brakes. is it pretty much that easy.
has anybody done this that can help with some heads up things to look for or look out for

i think its the black box on the left finder but not sure,
95 cherokee wont start and ive been through everything and cant get this thing running.
things ive checked: fire from the coil 2 the cap/ from cap 2 plug (screwdriver test) had spark.
new cap, wires, plugs
cps is good
checked power 2 injectors
feul rail is under pressure but havent tested psi i know it needs 2 b 40psi but i dont have a feul pressure tester

Hello
Hello I'm Joe, I'm an R.V. mechanic and this is my 6th Jeep and have been workiing on it about 4 1/2 years. It has a 6 inch suspension lift and LT245/75R16 BFG Mud Terrains. A powertrax rear locker and 4 Mopar skid-plates. And a bunch of other goodies. :mrgreen:

Oil pan
Are there any spacer or washers on any oil pan bolts i got some and cant find where they go . I changed the oil pan today and the rain was on the way i had to hurry up and i found them later . Maybe off the starter or the brackets holding the rad lines any help would be great thanks .

87 Cherokee wont start help..
i bought a 87 jeep cherokee pioneer and it wont start
i ve tried many many things to fix it nothing has worked
new alternator, starter, battery, bat cables, starter relay, spark plugs, ignition coil, newer fuel pump and fuel filter...
any suggestions?
i think it might be the fuel pump because when i replaced the fuel pump the new one made a humming noise when i turned the key it no longer does
i also know that 1 of my fuel injectors are bad maybe more

Weber Carburetor for CJ, YJ and Cherokee
If you have issues with a Jeep Carburetor (http://www.jeep4x4center.com/jeep-cj7/weber/carburetor.htm), here is a answer I left in another forum...
I rebuilt my first Carter, on a 1984 CJ7 258, in 1998. I did all the tricks to bypass the stepper motor and smog stuff. Shortly afterwards, because it never worked right, I purchased my first Weber (K551-38). I will NEVER re-build a Carter again. The 300 CFM Weber (Model K551) actually increases gas mileage and power! The 400 CFM Weber (Model K551-38) gives a seat of the pants increase in power I just couldn't believe. Kits are readily available for the 4.2 liter at about $380 and $480 respectively. The kits include EVERTHING you need to make the change. You won't regret it. As a side note, the '84 actually passed emissions better with the Weber than with all the smog stuff working "properly". I'll post a link in the "Vendors" section to our Weber page...
Though the link is to the CJ7 page, the same kits work on all Jeeps with the specified engines...

Mopar Injection
I'm having my 89/258 gone through adding headers/cam and the MOPAR injection. The PVC valve that came with the injection is too large for the opening on the valve cover. I'm hoping to find someone who has over come this problem who can give us a remedy. It appears the 4.0 valve cover will not fit on the 258. Thanks for any help or ideas where I can find a solution.

jeep mopar crap!!! PLZ HELP ASAP
got 96 4.0 cherokee. so it was runnin like crap. would almost die then u give it WOT and it would pick up clean out and move with a backfire. k no biggy really. well then it startd doin it and i go WOT and then a LOUD backfire and it shut off. wont start. got fuel to the rail. turns sounds like there aint not fuel hell maybe no spark. i hate this Jeep. well i like it alot just hate all this sensor and mopar crap. its always somethin plz help asap. couldnt go to wrk. dont wanna sell it but it may happen help me plz plz plz thnx
